A Prayer Inspired by the Parable of the Prodigal Son

23/03/2025

Heavenly Father, You who always open Your arms to welcome Your children, here I stand before You like the prodigal son, confessing my weakness, repenting for every step that led me away from You.

O Merciful One, how many times have I wandered, searching for happiness far from Your house, giving my heart to the fleeting things of this world? Yet, You never closed the door of Your mercy.

Instead, You waited for me with longing, calling me back into Your embrace.

Father, let me return to You with a pure heart, with a humble spirit—not as a servant who fears punishment, but as a child who knows that love is stronger than any sin.

Wash me with the tears of repentance, clothe me in the robe of grace, and lead me in Your light, so I may never stray from You again.

Thank You for not treating me according to my weakness but lifting me up with Your kindness and restoring me to the joy of life with You.

Help me to remain faithful, to serve my brothers and sisters, and to proclaim Your boundless mercy until the day I join in Your heavenly feast.

Amen.
