A Prayer Inspired by Fasting

Merciful Lord, here I stand before You in this sacred season of fasting, offering You my heart, my mind, and my body.
I ask You to purify my soul as fire refines gold and to grant me the spirit of true repentance.
Lord, just as You fasted in the wilderness for forty days and nights, give me the strength to walk this journey of fasting with humility and devotion—not as a burden, but as an opportunity to draw closer to You and to realign my life with Your will.
Forgive me, O Compassionate One, for my weaknesses and shortcomings.
Remove from my heart all that separates me from You.
Let my fasting be not just an abstinence from food, but also from every evil thought, every hurtful word, and every action that displeases You.
O Helper of the weak, strengthen me in sincere prayer, in generous giving, and in loving others as You have loved us unconditionally.
Teach me to hunger not only for bread but for Your living Word, which gives life, and to thirst for Your grace as a weary soul longs for pure water.
Open my eyes, Lord, to see those in need around me.
Open my hands to be a source of blessing to them.
Open my heart to forgive as You have forgiven me.
Bless my days in this season of fasting, that it may be a time of true transformation and a return to You with all my being.
In You alone, may I find my fulfillment, my peace, and my joy.
Amen.
